Evening Programs

Evening Programs are 1.5 hours long, and generally run from 7:00pm-8:30pm nightly.

Monday: Campfire!

On your first night at Colby, our Naturalists will lead a fun evening program around the campfire (weather permitting), filled with songs and stories! You will also complete a scavenger hunt across campus, searching for hidden clues about the ecosystems of Colby.

Tuesday: Night Hike!

On Tuesday night, you will head out with your Naturalist group for your Night Hike - many students and cabin leader's favorite experience of the whole week. You will explore the campus at night, learning about the nocturnal animals of Colby Ranch, practicing the use of your five senses in a new environment, and experience human night vision! Finally, you will explore the amazing night sky - full of stars, planets, meteors, satellites, the moon, and even the Milky Way!

Wednesday: Dance Night!

On Wednesday night, you will head down to Lower Stevens, where our Naturalists will greet you for an evening of fun!  Dance Night is a chance to shake your sillies out while our Naturalists teach you some simple dance moves, and we try them all out together to popular music.

Thursday:  Skit Night!

On Thursday night, we will all gather together for Skit Night!  During the week, each cabin group will prepare a short 3-5 minute skit on a science topic (provided on Monday), and tonight is the night you get to perform!  You might be a tree, a molecule of carbon dioxide, or a mysterious bobcat, but whatever part you play, Skit Night is the chance to enjoy each cabin group's performance and to reflect on all the things you have experienced at Outdoor Science School.
