An Inconvenient Truth in the classroom has a great section for teachers and educators on the subject of global climate change and hwo to empower ourselves and our students to make a difference. They include excelent lesson plans in science that help you meet curriculum standards.

National Audubon Society is a great place to learn more about bird watching and habitat preservation

Ballona Wetlands Foundation has good information for coastal wetlands in southern California. Prior to the Ballona Wetlands once covered a large area of Venice, Western Los Angeles, and Marina Del Rey.

"The Bug Man" - Steven Kutcher does presentations on insects and spiders in your classroom

Cabrillo Marine Aquarium offers aquarium tours, outdoor classroom, and whale watching tours to Schools in Los Angeles County

California Conservation Corps offers conservation projects for people of all ages

California Institute for Biodiversity CIB is dedicated to improving science literacy, environmental education, and the appropriate use of technology in classrooms throughout the state...

California Foundation for Agriculture in Classroom is a good resource for lessons on places to bring agricultural literacy to the classroom. The website will help you teach children where food comes from.

California Native Plant Society is dedicated to the preservation of wild plants native to California.

California Safe Schools provides links to resources that create a safe and healthy environment in California schools.

Dr. Art's Guide to Planet Earth - The Website Dr Art does a wonderful job in explaining on a 5-6th grade reading level on how nature works on a global scale.

Department of Fish and Game includes project WILD, for learning more about wildlife and their needs.

Descanso Gardens, La Cañada
Innovative School Programs have established Descanso Gardens as an invaluable community resource for teachers and children, attracting more than 20,000 visits annually. Whether the program is Discovering Trees for elementary school students, Sycamore Science Adventures for pre-school students or the Harvest Garden for students with special needs, Descanso has fine-tuned a method of teaching which highlights hands-on, inquiry-based learning.

Earthwatch Institute International nonprofit organization bringing science to life for people concerned about the future of Planet Earth. THe website includes extensive section for lesson plans and curriculum.

Eaton Canyon Nature Center Associates, is a 190-acre county park with nature center, located above Pasadena in the San Gabriel Mountains.

EE-Link Teacher Page (North American Association for Environmental Education) is a great place to find links to many environmental education, curriculum, and lesson plans

El Dorado Nature Center in Long Beach has nature trails and offers curriculum-based educational programs.

EPA Teacher Page (Environmental Protection Agency) offers grants for school projects, community service projects, lesson plans and plenty of free publications.

Gardens for Kids in LA
Bring gardening and composting to your school. Gardens for Kids is a Program of the City of Los Angeles, Environmental Affairs Department In Partnership with Los Angeles Conservation Corps, Los Angeles Unified School District Nutrition Network, University of California Cooperative Extension, Common Ground Garden Program, and California Integrated Waste Management Board.

STAR ECO Station is a non-profit environmental education and wildlife rescue center with a mission of Preservation Through Education. In collaboration with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, STAR ECO Station provides rescue and rehabilitation of illegal or abandoned at-risk and endangered exotic wildlife at our 18,000 square-foot facility in Culver City. STAR ECO Station offers innovative, interactive and inspiring environmental education outreach programs in 41 California school districts. Through assemblies, classroom instruction, community events, field trips, camps and educational tours of its rescue facility, STAR ECO Station serves over 1 million learners of all ages annually.

Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SARE) has good educator guies and curriculum resources for organic foods and sustainable agriculture.

Topanga Canyon Docents offers FREE educational walks and talks at Topanga Canyon State Park to public and private schools in the greater Los Angeles area.

Tree People is a nonprofit organization that has been serving the Los Angeles area for over three decades. Simply put, their work is about helping nature heal our cities. We offer sustainable solutions to urban ecosystem problems, focusing on three areas: 1. Training and supporting communities to plant and care for trees, 2. Educating school children and adults about the environment, 3. Working with government agencies on critical water issues.
