Visiting Outdoor Science School

We are proud of our program and love having parents visit.

When
You can visit pretty much any weekday of the school year, except during the week your child is attending. We do not allow parents to visit their child at Outdoor Science School. Our experience indicates that having parents visit often creates problems with homesickness. Sometimes it will be your own child who becomes homesick, but more commonly it is the OTHER students who get homesick. They see parents visiting and then wonder to themselves "Why didn't my mom and dad visit me?" This often sends them into a downward spiral of insecurity and homesickness. Please help us make it a successful week for everyone by not visiting your child at Outdoor Science School.

How
If you would like to visit our school prior to the week your child is attending, please call to make an appointment. Telephone numbers to all of the sites are listed on the contact page. The best times to visit are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday during business hours. Friday afternoons can also be a good time. Check with the site director of the site you are visiting to arrange a time for your visit.

Weekends
Weekends are not an acceptable time to visit the Outdoor Science School. Most of our school sites are leased, and the site owners typically have weekend groups using the property. Please DO NOT just drive up to the site on a weekend. All of our sites are private property. They are not public parks.
