Our school operates during a traditional September through June school year . A typical year consists of 160-180 work days. There is one week off for Thanksgiving and Spring breaks, a two week Winter break, and five three-day weekends due to government holidays. All of those are paid vacation days. If you wish, there are often several opportunities to take an unpaid week off when we have small groups.
Barring any problems, all staff are invited to return for subsequent school years. Most folks work for LACOSS at least two years. Some have been here more than 10 years. We hope to provide a working environment that encourages you to see outdoor science teaching as a career choice, rather than as a temporary diversion until you find a "real job".
